Travels in Disney - Part 4

Wednesday, January 05, 2011

Today we went to Animal Kingdom. The bus was so packed that we were smashed standing up in the front. Even James and Grandma had to stand. Grandpa and I usually let women and people who need to sit have our seats. There were lots of men whose grandpa’s didn’t teach them that on the bus. Maybe in their families, it’s first come, first served. I think it’s rude and the world would be a better place if everyone would look out for ways to be nice. I’m not sure this applies in the school cafeteria, though.

Because the bus was so packed, we thought the park would be completely packed, too. To our surprise, one of the main attractions had a 20 minute wait. That was the longest wait we had all day. The main attraction was Expedition Everest. We got on a train/roller coaster and went up a big hill. At the top of the hill, there was a cave where a yeti ripped up the track, so we went back down part of the hill, backwards. Then we went into another cave and turned forwards, again. It was regular roller coaster after that.

When we first got to the park, there was this guy named Josh who was showing us a big tan spider. Maybe Grandpa remembers what kind. Josh had a bunch of interesting facts about spiders, including there are only 3 spiders in the US who can badly hurt you. A Brown Recluse, A Black Widow and a XXX. The others, including a tarantula feel like a mosquito bite or a bee sting if they bite you. There was an animal conservation program where we did fun little activities and got stamps on a card in different parts of the park. Josh was at 3 of the 6 locations. We got to know him sort of well!

In a little bit, we’re going back to Epcot for dinner at Marakesh – in the Morocco pavilion. We’ll tour around the world some.

Yesterday’s word problem – The New Year’s crowd was a little less than 3 times as big as usual.

Today’s word problem – If 32000 visitors spent an average of 25 dollars on souvenirs, each, how much money is that in a day? What about a week?
