Travels in Disney - Part 3

Tuesday, January 04, 2011

This is actually Aaron’s mom. We talked about what to write before he zonked out. He had a super long night last night for James’ birthday. The birthday was fabulous. We went to Epcot, today and Aaron rode Mission Space, where he got to be the mission commander and fly to Mars! We rode Ellen’s Energy Adventure, which was sort of a combination between a ride and a movie. Our theater seats were in cars that moved through a movie about fuel and energy. We rode lots of fun rides, today - including Spaceship earth twice. Aaron and I played a game sort of like shuffle board where you have to shoot “pucks” of energy to new parts of the city on a playing board and build the largest possible city and meet its energy demands. We built a city of about 8 million people - about the size of New York City. It was a lot of fun and we enjoyed playing together, a lot!

We met Aaron and James’ old babysitter for dinner, tonight. She finished college in the spring and has worked at Disney for several months. She works in Epcot and said that there were 85,000 people in Epcot for the New Year’s celebration! We asked how many people come on an average day. She said about 32,000! That’s a lot! We ate in Boma – which is an African restaurant in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It was fantastic food, but I’m too full. Aaron ate a lot of cool and different things. Both Aaron and James conked out as soon as we got back to the room. We’ll go to Hollywood studios, tomorrow.

Yesterday’s word problem about trading pins – if 4234 kids trade 25 pins, apiece, that’s 105,850 pins floating around!

And since we have real statistics to work with, today, how many times bigger was the New Year’s crowd than the average crowd? The numbers you need are in the paragraph about our babysitter.
